I. Faculty Council (Engere Fakultät)

The "Engere Fakultät" (Faculty Council) is the central decision-making body of the faculty for all questions that are not the sole responsibility of the Dean and the Vice-Deans. In particular, it is responsible for passing resolutions on the faculty regulations and the faculty regulations concerning research and teaching. The basis for the work of the Narrower Faculty is § 28 HG NRW, § 14 Grundordnung der Universität zu Köln as well as the Rules of Procedure of the Engere Fakultät.

Born members of the Engere Faculät are the Dean and the Vice-Deans, who do not have the right to vote. The Dean chairs the meeting.

In addition, members of the Engere Fakultät are:

    nine representatives of the group of professors
    two representatives of the academic staff group
    three representatives of the group of students
    one representative of the group of other employees
    an additional representative of the group of other employees in an advisory capacity

The members of the respective groups are elected in elections every two years, the members of the group of students in annual elections. Elections take place in the winter semester within the respective group, the elected members take office at the beginning of the following summer semester.

II. Weitere Gremien und Kommissionen

Die Arbeit der Engeren Fakultät und des Dekans wird durch verschiedene, z. T. schon seit Jahren erfolgreich tätige Kommissionen unterstützt. Neben den hier aufgeführten Kommissionen werden bei Bedarf von der Engeren Fakultät - insbesondere für die Berufung neuer Professoren - ad hoc weitere gebildet.
Die neu gewählte Engere Fakultät wird die Kommissionen, soweit erforderlich, in ihrer ersten Sitzung im April neu besetzen.
