Habilitation

A habilitation can follow a doctorate and leads to the awarding/certification of teaching qualifications in one or more scientific subjects (habilitation subject/s). It is based on the habilitation thesis and an academic lecture followed by a colloquium.
As a rule, the academic degree "Doctor habilitatus" ("Dr. habil.") is awarded upon completion of the habilitation. In addition, the academic title "Privatdozent/Privatdozentin" can be awarded.
